KATHMANDU : Bipin Joshi from Kanchanpur, who went missing after the latest Hamas attack on Israel earlier last month, is found safe in a hospital in Gaza.
According to Sewa Lamsal, spokesperson of the MoFA, the information that Joshi is safe in the hospital in Gaza was communicated by the Israeli government to the Embassy of Nepal in Tel Aviv.
“We have received good news that Bipin Joshi is safe. We are trying to verify further by talking directly with Bipin. Although it is said that Joshi is in the hospital, it is not yet clear what his condition is,” said Lamsal.
Private Secretary of Foreign Minister NP Saud, Deepak Raj Joshi, also said that the information that Joshi was found safe in the Gaza area was received from a reliable source. “Bipin Joshi is safe. His family has also been informed about it,” he said, adding, “Efforts are being made to rescue him.”
A total of 49 students including Joshi studying in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Sudurpaschim University went to Israel on September 13 as part of the ‘Learn and Earn’ program. On October 7, 10 Nepali students were killed in an attack by Hamas on an agricultural farm in Kibbutz, while Joshi from Bhimdatta Municipality-3 in Kanchanpur was abducted.
The government of Nepal continued diplomatic initiatives to find out the condition of Joshi and bring him back home safely. In addition, the government also requested international organizations for help.
