BHAKTAPUR: The famous Biska Jatra of Bhaktapur has started today.
The eight-night nine-day long Biska Jatra started with the pulling of Bhairavnath’s chariot, built in front of the five-story temple in Bhaktapur Municipality-5 Taumadhi, on Monday afternoon.
The Jatra begins with the process of pulling a three-story chariot of Bhairavnath four days before the arrival of the Nepali New Year. The chariot is made of wood in pagoda style and about 30 feet high.
The Jatra is started by pulling the chariot with a rope on both sides. Thousands of youth pull the chariot with six thick ropes on one side and four on the other side.
