KATHMANDU : In today’s Asia Cup showdown, Nepal is set to take on India, provided the weather holds up. The match is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 PM at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
This marks Nepal’s debut appearance in the Asia Cup, facing India, a seasoned participant with 14 prior appearances. India currently holds the third position in the ICC ODI rankings, whereas Nepal ranks 15th, with Pakistan securing the top spot.
In their inaugural Asia Cup match last Wednesday, Nepal faced a defeat at the hands of Pakistan, succumbing by a margin of 238 runs in Multan, Pakistan. Similarly, the clash between India and Pakistan on Saturday had to be abandoned due to inclement weather.
The Asia Cup tournament is divided into two groups, with Group ‘A’ consisting of Nepal, India, and Pakistan, while Group ‘B’ comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. Pakistan stands atop Group ‘A,’ with India in second place and Nepal securing the third spot. Pakistan has advanced to the Super Four stage.
India has garnered one point per match, while Nepal remains scoreless after their single match appearance.
